Watkins Glen Vintage GP Featuring Alfa Romeo

In honor of the 100th anniversary of Alfa Romeo, the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) and the Grand Prix Festival in Watkins Glen have chosen Alfa Romeo as the "Featured Marque" for the Watkins Glen

Vintage Grand Prix and Grand Prix Festival, September 9-12, 2010.

Multiple activities are planned for both Alfa Romeo street and race cars at the track and in the village of Watkins Glen, so many, that the lack of things to do and see will never be a problem. There will be an "Alfa Race" Sunday afternoon at the track.

We hope to attract many historically important street and competition cars from all eras and with luck, perhaps some of the newer cars not currently imported to the US.

A committee has been organized to spearhead the large expected turnout for Alfa Romeo vintage racers and Alfisti from around the country.  A web site, serving as the central clearinghouse for information about this event, will be located at  www.alfas-at-the-glen2010.com

An additional website, www.grandprixfestival.com covers the numerous events (rallies, tours, car shows) organized by the Village of Watkins Glen.

For the Vintage Festival in 2009, an estimated 20,000 spectators celebrated the 100th year of Morgan.

In 2005, Alfas at the Glen had 55 Alfas racing at the track and more than 75 registered for the full range of festival events downtown.

All Alfisti will be welcome to gather at Watkins Glen, to cheer on their brethren on the track and to participate in the village events

AROC 2010 Convention Caravan

Gene & Judy Durso and my husband Dan & I worked up a route from central Massachusetts for anyone who would like to caravan with us to the convention.  While we designed this for the AONE Chapter members, we specifically designed it with the hope that we could join up with the New York and Connecticut members also if that makes sense.

We plan to leave on Wednesday morning (June 23) at 8AM PROMPT from the Mass Pike (I-90W) Charlton MA Rest Area. We have a rest stop/meeting point in Southern CT (on RTE15)  and a stop for lunch in Morristown NJ where other chapters/members could meet up with us.

Here is a link to the caravan Route and Rest Stops on Google Maps. And here is a PDF file containing the Turn-by-Turn Directions.
